Douglas Riddell
Doug Riddell started as an attorney with Hastie Law Offices in August 2010. He chairs the firm’s misdemeanor defense, felony defense, and traffic and OVI/DUI defense practices. Doug also services Hastie Law Offices’ estate planning and litigation clients.
Prior to working with Hastie Law Offices, Doug served five years as Public Defender here in Franklin County. During his five years with the Public Defender’s office, Doug represented thousands of OVI, traffic, and criminal defendants and gained extensive jury trial and litigation experience. We firmly believe Doug is on the way to becoming one of Central Ohio’s preminent criminal defense attorneys.
Doug graduated from the University of Notre Dame (B.A. Political Science) and from the University of Cincinnati Law School. After law school, he worked as an associate attorney with Sheppard Law Offices. While there, he represented traffic and criminal defendants throughout Franklin, Licking, Delaware, Fairfield, Madison, Champaign, and Union counties. He also represented clients in civil litigation, probate, domestic, divorce/dissolution, and estate planning matters.
Doug combination of experience gives him a unique perspective that is invaluable to our firm. Doug primarily practices in courthouses throughout central Ohio, including Mayor’s courts in Upper Arlington, Grandview, Grove City, Marblecliff, Dublin, Gahanna, Reynoldsburg, and Whitehall.
Doug and his wife, Bridget, live in Upper Arlington and maintain close ties to the community through the St. Christopher parish and other Grandview civic associations. In his spare time, Doug enjoys tennis, golf, and following Notre Dame football.
Doug is a member of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association, and the Central Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
